How to Create WinPE Bootable Disk

Introduction

System recovery is required after system crashes or unexpected Operating System issue appears. WinPE bootable disk of EaseUS Todo Backup is designed for this target when the machine needs to be fixed or it is no longer able to login Windows.

WinPE is short for Windows Preinstallation Environment, which usually consists of basic Windows running component and can be used to load a machine even the main Operating System (OS) malfunctions.

This article includes some basic info about this kind of bootable disk and offers some clues to troubleshoot using issues.

 



How to create it

Writable discs, USB flash drives and external hard drives can be all used to create the bootable disk.
Please note to create an emergency disk on an USB external drive, you need to first create an active partition on it.

The entry to create a WinPE bootable disk can be easily found by clicking Tools > Create Emergency disk, then select your device and follow the wizard to create a bootable disc or USB drive.

It is also allowed to burn the bootable disk with a third tool after exporting the ISO file by the option Create ISO first.

Difference between WinPE and Linux bootable disks

Comparing to WinPE bootable disk, Linux bootable disk can be used directly in free and trial edition without purchasing a license first, however, it only has Recovery and Clone option available. All other options are disabled with this kind of open-source based on bootable disk

For WinPE bootable disk, it not only includes the options the can be used under Windows, but also has some additional options can help user perform a more efficient and fast system recovery. Such as adding driver file to list hardware RAID or SCSI drive, operating hard drive first before the recovery with Windows command shell.

 



What to do if WinPE bootable disk cannot be created

The known issues keep a bootable disk ISO file from being created include:
1. The selected disc or USB drive cannot be written correctly.
2. Hardware or system issues which affect bootable disk creation.

It is worth to try with a different device or computer to create the bootable disk for further investigating the issue. And a paid user can also contact Support team for a created ISO file with order ID proved first.

 



What to do if WinPE bootable disk cannot be loaded

If another computer is available around, testing the same bootable disk on it can further check if the bootable disk is damaged or not. Occasionally, re-creating a new bootable disk can solve the load issue.
